As an employee of a multinational I worked as a general manager of several chemical plants. A couple of times I and my family were sent abroad as an expat a.o. to South America.

There our family got in touch with a totally different culture, and people who had to work hard for a very small income or people who had no jobs at all. There I realized that a major part of the population in the Third World is still dependent on us for support.

When I retired and got more leisure time I got involved in Penduka, as my wife Willempje van der Luit was supporting Penduka already for a couple of years. After helping out with the administration I was chosen in the Board as a treasurer.

Furthermore I help with the organization of sales, fundraising, etc.
